This is an opportunity for someone who is passionate about the arts in St. Louis. The Arts and Education Council is seeking a President who will work with the Board to continue the 45 year tradition of growing the base of loyal arts supporters and investing in area arts organizations. Arts and Education enriches the vibrancy of the St. Louis community.
Founded in 1963, A&E is committed to keep art happening throughout the 16 county metropolitan St. Louis area. More than $95 million has been raised to support a wide array of area cultural and educational organizations. A&E enables more than 5 million children and adults each year to experience music, theatre, dance, film, literary arts, visual arts, education and outreach programs provided through its grantees.

Position Description
Provide leadership, management and vision to increase annual revenues of the Council, position the Council and the arts as economic resources for the entire bi-state community and manage Council staff to achieve the objectives of the board and the Strategic Plan. Oversee the llocations process for funding of area arts organizations.
Primary Responsibilities
- Work with the Board and its committees to implement and meet the goals of the Strategic Plan.
- Provide oversight for the Centene Center for Arts and Education and leverage its potential for the arts and the community.
- Provide funding to area arts organizations in a deliberate and thoughtful manner, relying on the input of community volunteers.
- Represent the Council and the arts in the community.
Primary Skills, Education and Experience
- A minimum of 5 years of senior management experience with demonstrated success in raising and managing contributed funds.
- Proven leadership, management and team-building skills and personnel management experience.
- Ability to work collaboratively with many constituencies including board, staff, corporate and individual donors, arts organizations and a variety of civic entities.
- Demonstrated interest in the arts.
- Experience working with a Board of Directors and volunteers.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills.
- Undergraduate degree required; post-graduate work preferred.
