Strategic Communications for Nonprofits

NSC is pleased to offer for 2008, Strategic Communications for Nonprofits—a three-part seminar with ongoing coaching through the creation of a communications plan, as well as the potential for implementation assistance.  [Download Application Packet]

In the seminar, Mary Ann Dersch of 501creative will teach key elements of success in strategic communications and guide participants to create individualized plans for their agencies. Throughout the series, participants can expect to:

  • Increase understanding of communications planning and how it can help meet your fundraising and program goals.
  • Determine your organization’s target audiences.
  • Develop your organization’s main message and brand identity.
  • Learn simple research techniques, especially focus groups.
  • Engage staff and board members in the planning process.
  • Draft a communications plan tailored to your organization’s specific needs and capacity.
  • Be prepared to implement a communications plan (with potential funds for implementation).
  • Engage in four hours of individual coaching each month.

The fall seminar series will be offered in St. Louis on October 1, November 5 and December 3. A commitment to participate in all three sessions of the series is required. There is a nominal fee of $150 per organization. Organizations are encouraged to send two participants. Space is limited to ten organizations to ensure quality of training.
