Program Internship

The Nonprofit Services Consortium is committed to the development of strong managers and leaders for the nonprofit sector.  In keeping with this commitment, NSC provides field practicum opportunities for students interested in learning more about the nonprofit sector and/or developing a career in the nonprofit sector through its internship/practicum student programming. In this role, the individual assists program staff in the development, research, evaluation, implementation and maintenance of program resources and organizational support systems In addition, the student is provided with exposure to both the various facets of nonprofit organizational management and to the workings of the broader nonprofit sector.

The successful candidate for this student intern position will require excellent verbal and written communication skills.  Strong interpersonal skills and a willingness to function as part of an interdisciplinary team is required.

The student should want to learn competency in: planning, organizational development, event organizing, program development, including meeting deadlines; analysis/research; quality orientation/attention to detail; follow-up and information monitoring; judgment; organizational awareness; customer service; and initiative.  The candidate will learn about working with nonprofit organizations and a basic understanding of nonprofit financial statements. 

Education:       

Successful participation graduate degree program at an accredited college or university.

Experience:      

Some prior experience in professional work settings is preferred but not required.

Variances may be allowed in the above qualifications for education and/or experience dependent upon the attainment by the candidate of the appropriate level of skills development required for the position.
