The Robert Wood Johnson Foundation wants to help relieve people in communities nationwide of the guesswork in determining the quality of their local doctors and hospitals. A newly launched online service provides links to over 200 reports that contain information on whether doctors and hospitals deliver good or bad care.

Back by popular demand! With a focus on conveying impact, this engaging workshop will present strategies to help you write more effective proposals that capture the funder’s attention. Special consideration is given to developing clear outcomes. Participants should come with any project in mind and finish with at least one solid, measurable outcome and more. Using the new Missouri Common Grant Application, this workshop is designed for the beginner and moderately experienced professional, participants can expect to learn: the different types of foundations and how to research their interests and priorities to tailor the proposal accordingly. With the help of your peers, learn how to make your case for support with language that compels and results that convey credibility.
Presenter: Mary Peterson (March 27: Kirksville & October 2: Sikeston)
Mary Peterson has more than thirty years experience in the nonprofit sector, including sixteen years public health experience. She founded Peterson & Associates Consulting, in 2001, to use her combined business focus and nonprofit experience to enable nonprofits to identify and achieve their strategic goals through grant writing and program development. Since this time, she has provided mission focused consulting services to help build capacity of nonprofit organizations and has secured more than sixty million dollars of grant funding. Successful grant proposals include more than 60 MFH projects, involving more than 100 collaborative partners, serving 50 counties.
Her work encompasses helping organizations to assess needs; facilitate partnerships; plan, develop, and implement programs; secure funding; and evaluate and report results. Client organizations are diverse in terms of mission, size, and geographic scope and include rural health networks, local public health agencies, federally qualified health centers, hospitals, domestic violence shelters, caring communities, faith-based organizations, ambulance districts, and other nonprofits.
Mary is the editor of, the Non-Profit Insight, an electronic newsletter designed to help community leaders and organizations stay informed of funding opportunities. Each weekly edition contains information about newly announced Federal and State grant opportunities as well as foundation and corporate funding.
Mary is an alumnus of Southeast Missouri State University with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing Degree. She is President-Elect of the Missouri Rural Health Association. She and her husband reside in Nixa, Missouri.
Wendy Dyer

Wendy has been a fundraiser and a fundraising consultant for more than 20 years. She does extensive training and coaching and strongly believes in skills-transfer to ensure that the next generation of fundraisers can enrich their organizations and the community for many years to come. Wendy is hands-on consultant and provides practical solutions for goals that are 'doable with a stretch.'
She is a graduate of Saint Louis University, where she started her fundraising career in donor research, major gifts and corporate/foundation relations.
Registration:
The cost for the workshop is $75 per person and priority is given to health-related organizations. Registrations by non-health organizations will be placed on a waiting list as space is often available. Space is limited to 20 individuals and we encourage two representatives from an organization attend.
