Class Description:
Participants will learn to identify key tasks to do before and during the first 100 days of your chairmanship. Come hear techniques for how you can build a strong relationship for working more effectively with the Executive Director or CEO. Learn new techniques for how you can plan, organize and execute successful board meetings and ways to improve board involvement and productivity.
The First 100 Days is a workshop designed to help new Board Presidents understand their role and responsibility for guiding organizational governance during their initial term of service. When you leave this workshop, those overwhelming feelings you sometimes have as a new nonprofit Board President will be gone. You will leave with hands-on tools that will help you establish a solid framework for guiding organizational policy; tools for establishing a strong partnership with the CEO/ED and techniques for building a stronger, cohesive and engaged Board.
About our presenter:
Laurna Godwin is the current Chair of the Board of the Greater Saint Louis Community Foundation. Laurna is a three-time Emmy award winning broadcast journalist, and partner, and co-founder of Vector Communications Corporation, a public engagement and communications consulting firm in St. Louis, Missouri. She has previously served as the Chair of the Board of Trustees for Blackburn College in Carlinville, Illinois and also previously served for four years as the Board Chair of the Girl Scouts of Eastern Missouri, one of the largest Girls Scout Councils in the United States serving more than 63,000 girls with 18,000 volunteers in the City of St. Louis and 28 counties.
Registration:
The cost for the workshop is $45 per person and priority is given to health-related organizations. Registrations by non-health organizations will be placed on a waiting list as space is often available. Space is limited to 20 individuals and we encourage two representatives from an organization attend.
Cancellations:
Full refunds are available up to 5 days prior to event. Events may be rescheduled or consolidated due to low registration.
