Women Executive Directors

"The most common way people give up their power is by thinking they don't have any."   Alice Walker, novelist

WOMEN IN LEADERSHIP...

Building Momentum for Social Change

June 5 & 6, 2008

Cedar Creek Conference Center, New Haven, MO       [Registration Information ]

NSC is pleased to present our Third Annual Leadership Forum for Women Executive Directors scheduled on June 5 & 6, 2008.  We return to Cedar Creek Conference Center in New Haven, Missouri to connect, network and learn with our colleagues among the beautiful rolling hills of Missouri.

[View Reflections from 2007 Participants

This year's theme, Women in Leadership... Building Momentum for Social Change, will offer participants an opportunity to reaffirm, reinforce and recognize their voice and power as we become greater advocates for social change.

Featuring

Linda Stout, director, Spirit in Action

Linda Stout will open the 2008 Leadership Forum for Women Executive Directors and help us experience and learn about developing a collective vision that propels us into the future and inspires and energizes us toward creative action. Learn to create an atmosphere of openness, allowing respectful dialogue about controversial issues and supporting each other even if we disagree. Understand how differences strengthen us and help us create a movement for change.

Linda Stout, director of Spirit in Action, has been a grassroots organizer and activist for three decades. A thirteenth-generation Quaker born to a tenant-farming family, Linda founded a successful grassroots organization in 1984 in a conservative region of North Carolina. The Piedmont Peace Project worked successfully to forge extraordinary alliances across race and class lines and won major public policy changes. The project also won the National Grassroots Peace Award.

Reflections of the 2007 Leadership Forum

"From start to finish it was a wonderful time of training, networking, learning and Peer Discussion 2007dreaming.  The only deficit was that it ended too quickly."

"The sessions at the 2007 Women’s Forum were informative and engaging.  I enjoyed getting to know so many women on a personal level.  We shared not just our challenges, but our many successes.  It was great fun!"
