Youth In Need

Community Relations Manager

Organization Overview

Youth In Need is a non-for profit service organization serving at-risk children, teens and families in St. Louis, St. Charles, Lincoln, Warren and Montgomery Counties. 

Position Overview

The Community Relations Manager is a member of the Development Team and is responsible for planning and implementing the agency’s Volunteer Program along with the Community Support Program (in-kind donations). The Community Relations Manager will report to the Vice President of Development & Marketing and join a team Development and Marketing professionals, this full time position will focus of the key areas listed below:

Volunteers 

  • Recruitment & Retention
  • Training & evaluation with volunteer and program staff
  • Recognition of Volunteers  through various annual events
  • Implementation of Volunteer Management Process with entire agency

Communications / Public Relations

  • Implement Volunteer & Community Support communication through website, email and newsletter methods. 

  • Represent Youth In Need needs and services offered in the community

Community Support – In-kind Donation Program

  • Oversee Donation Program for agency

  • Work with finance and program staff to access supply needs

  • Solicit and recruit groups/individuals to participate in Donation Program

  • Oversee Back to School Drive and Holiday Drive

  • Reporting 

Support as needed for other Development Department activities

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Service Management or Communications / Related field

  • Flexibility in schedule to allow for working with volunteers on weekends or evenings

  • Ability to work with diverse groups of people

  • Strong writing and public speaking skills

  • Planning, organizational, and project management skills.

  • Initiative and ability to handle several projects simultaneously.
